Honda Recall: 428,000 Vehicles in North America.
Honda will recall 428,000 vehicles in North America, after a defect in some models could cause the car to roll away, when someone parks it incorrectly. The defect occurs when the ignition interlock lever fails. The ignition interlock lever is supposed to prevent drivers from removing the keys from the car’s ignition, when the car is not placed in park. But, the switch has been known to fail. Thus, enabling someone to remove the keys from their cars ignition, even when the car is not placed in park. 10+ car crashes have occurred because of the ignition interlock lever fail.
Customers will be notified by Honda of the defect in September of 2010. Until then, you should know that the warranty will cover the Accord, Civic, and Element Models from 2003 to 2004, in the United States. The warranty will also cover the Acura 1.7ELs model in Canada, along with the models listed above. ABC News reports that a number of accidents have happened because of the defect. One woman claimed that she was almost his by her car, when she parked it in her driveway.
