Roger Huerta Street Fight VIDEO!

VIDEO! UFC fighter, Roger Huerta, was recently in a street fight, after seeing a woman being sucker-punched by a random dude on the street. Huerta wasn’t having any of it. He confronted the man, and gave him a piece of his own medicine. Thus far, no charges have been filed.

If you watch the video, which can be seen on ABC, (don’t look on Youtube. It’s not available there.), you will see a woman getting sucker-punched by a pretty large man. Seconds later, you see Huerta approaching the man, and then, the fight breaks from the camera. Once the fight cuts back in, you see the man (who sucker-punched the woman), on the ground. Seconds later, people surround the man. You see many people on their cellphones, and then you hear sirens in the background. The video is 2:26, has reached the top 40 in Google Trends, and will likely go viral.

Like we originally said, no charges have currently been filed against Huerta, but people are questioning if their even will be. Although Huerta wasn’t defending himself, he was performing a public service (in the eyes of many), and protecting individuals who could have ended up being hurt by the man who sucker-punched the woman. Currently, no other information is available, but we will keep you posted.

Karen Cunagin Sypher PHOTO!

Karen Cunagin Sypher is a popular subject today, not only at the grounds of the University of Louisville, but also around the nation. According to Politically Illustrated, Sypher was charged by the U.S. District Court with not only lying to federal agents, but extortion, as well.

Louisville Cardinals' head basketball coach Rick Pitino, seen in a February 12, 2003 file photo in St. Louis, has claimed on August 12, 2009 he had consensual sex with Karen Cunagin Sypher at a Louisville restaurant back on August 1, 2003 and paid her $3,000 for medical expenses. Sypher has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiring to extort money from Pitino in exchange for her silence about the alleged crimes, and with lying to the FBI. Scott Rovak UPI/Scott Rovak/Files Photo via Newscom

The story began after Sypher, married to Louisville equipment manager, Tim Sypher, met Lousiville coach, Rick Pitino, at an Italian restaurant, in Louisville. Pitino went out to the restaurant after having a day of golf.

The two first met while dining, began talking to one another, and had sexual interactions, while they were at the restaurant, after Pitino purchased Sypher a drink. According to Wikipedia, the sexual interaction was “brief” and occurred “under the table.” According to Sypher, Pitino sexually assaulted her, but police say that this claim lacks merit. Tim Coury, the owner of the restaurant, backed Pitino’s story.

In a recently obtained quote, Pitino stated, “Unfortunate things happen.” Pitino also admitted to having sexual interaction with Sypher.

Manute Bol Died

Basketball on white background

One of the NBA’s tallest players, Manute Bol, has sadly died. His death came on June 19th, 2010. His cousin told news reporters that Bol had internal bleeding, along with other complications from Stevens-Johnson syndrome; an extremely rare skin disease he contracted from a medicine he had taken in Africa. Bol was only 47-years-old.

Bol’s life began in Southern Sudan, where he worked as a cattle-herding member of the Dinka Tribe. One day, a United States basketball coach was working in Sudan, and he happened to stumble across Bol. Granted, Bol’s height of 7 feet 6 3/4th inches was extremely hard to miss. Without knowing the English Language, Bol came to America.

In 1985, Bol appeared in the NBA Draft, where he was picked up by the Washington Bullets. Because he was extremely tall, but only 190 pounds, Bol had an extremely thin frame. Many began to wonder whether or not this unknown individual would do well on the court, for the fact of the matter was, Bol had never played basketball.

By the time the 1985 season began, Bol had gained 17 pounds. Although his basketball skills were very limited, Bol got better the more he played. In 1985, Bol had blocked 397 total shots. Over the span of his 9 year basketball career, Bol had blocked 2,086 shots and scored a total of 1,599 points.

Charles Barkley described Bol

“You know, a lot of people feel sorry for him, because he’s so tall and awkward. But I’ll tell you this — if everyone in the world was a Manute Bol, it’s a world I’d want to live in.”

Although Bol spent 9 years in the NBA, he always returned to his homeland. Bol had donated an estimated $3.5 million dollars to Dinka-led rebel group, stating “I don’t work for money. I work to save people. I can always make more money, but you can’t bring back those that are gone.

Utah Utes Join Pac 10 Conference

LAS VEGAS - MARCH 11: The Utah Utes mascot Swoop performs during a quarterfinal game against the UNLV Rebels at the Conoco Mountain West Conference Basketball tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center March 11, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. UNLV won 73-61. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images)

Although the Pac 10’s goals to form a “Super Conference” were officially trumped only a few days ago, ESPN is reporting that Utah has joined the conference as the 12th team. The University of Colorado joined the Pac 10 conference last week.

Movement throughout the NCAA has been going on over the past few weeks. Originally, the Pac 10 was looking to convince 5 out of the 12 Big 12 teams to join them, and form a super conference. To do this, the Pac 10 needed to convince Texas into joining the conference. In the midst of the chess match, the Big 12 convinced Texas to stay put, by offering them a whopping $22 million annually, from the league’s new TV contract. The contract will also allow Texas to form their own network, which would add another $3 – $4 million to the deal. Had the deal gone through, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State would’ve also likely joined the Pac 10 conference.

Although the Pac 10 has failed to turn into a super conference, at least for now, commissioner Larry Scott is happy to have had Colorado and Utah join the conference:

“The addition of the University of Utah as the Conference’s 12th member continues to strengthen the Pac-10’s goals of becoming the country’s leader in college athletics.” Larry continued, “The University of Utah is a great academic and athletic fit, and we are thrilled to welcome them to the Pac-10.” [ESPN]

There’s definitely no doubt that Utah is fit for the Pac 10. Back in 2008, Utah went on to beat the Oregon State Beavers, who later went on to win an ugly Sun Bowl game, with a score of 3 – 0. That same year, Utah went on to beat Alabama in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

A few days ago, we discussed what the addition of Utah would mean for the Pac 10 conference.

“If the PAC 10 gets Utah to come the conference, the Pac 10 would likely be split into two divisions. There would be six teams in each division. Each team would play all the teams in their division, as well as three out of division games. After all is said and done the top team out of each division would play a conference championship game for the PAC 10 title. The winner of that game would then play in the Rose Bowl or a BCS bowl game if they do good enough to have a BCS bowl game bid.”

Colorado and Utah will begin their Pac 10 season in the August, 2011.

PAC 10 Expansion Trumped!

March 11, 2010 Los Angeles, CA..The Oregon State Mascot performs in action during the College Basketball game against Washington in the Pac-10 Tournament at Staples Center on March 11, 2010 in Los Angeles, California..Washington defeats Oregon State 59-52.Louis Lopez/CSM.

The PAC  10 hopes to form a super conference were trumped today, by what is left of the big 12.  The big 12 offered more funding to the rest of their schools as a  way to keep the conference intact. That is just one of the deals they laid on the table, and it was just enough to convince the five Big 12 teams to stay put. Originally, the Pac 10 was looking to form a super conference with the current 10 teams, Colorado, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.

The Big 12 reportedly offered the the Texas Long  Horns  ”$22 million annually from the league’s new TV contract and will be allowed to form their own network, which would add another $3 million to $4 million annually to their coffers”. With these incentives the Texas Long Horn’s decided to stay with the conference, and with that, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State decided to stay with the conference as well.

So what does this mean for the PAC 10? The PAC 10 will no longer be able to become a super conference, but they will now look into adding Utah.  If the PAC 10 gets Utah to come the conference, the Pac 10 would likely be split into two divisions. There would be six teams in each division. Each team would play all the teams in their division, as well as three out of division games. After all is said and done the top team out of each division would play a conference championship game for the PAC 10 title.  The winner of that game would then play in the Rose Bowl or a BCS bowl game if they do good enough to have a BCS bowl game bid.
