What is Sextortion? How Can It Be Prevented?

Sextortion is becoming extremely popular amongst teens around the world, but what is it, and how can it be prevented? The following information was obtained from Gather.com. (We all remember the Miley Cyrus photo scandals. This was an example of sexting, but what is sextortion?) Let us explain. See below photo!

‘Sextortion’ has been around for quite some time, but only recently was it really developed into an actual term. Here’s a basic example of how sextortion works: Let’s call the two involved in this story, Ashley and Bill. Bill asks Ashley to send him a provocative photo. Ashley sends Bill the photo. Bill is happy, but wants to see something even more provocative. Ashley declines Bill’s request for a more provocative photo. Bill then states that if Ashley doesn’t send him a more provocative photo, he will release her first sent photo to the public. Thus, the term ’sextortion.’

Thus far, a number of sextortion cases have been taking place around the world. Lawyer and child safety advocate, Parry Aftab recently commented on the issue, common amongst teens, “Kids are putting their head in the lion’s mouth every time they do this,” and we couldn’t agree more.

In recent cases, a man sextorted 50+ women. In another case, a man posed as a young woman and tricked other men into send him photos, via email or text. In each of these cases, the men involved received 18 and 15 years in prison.

Sextortion can easily be prevented, by simply not taking any provactive photos, videos, or other similar types of media. Once you take a provocative photo or video, it can easily be released into the public, and once that media hits the internet, it’s likely not coming off. Kids are commonly involved in Sextortion, because they don’t realize the consquences of sexting, and other forms of provocative photo and video shooting.

HP is one of the most successfully branded computers on the market today. Just go to any college campus and look around. You will see HP everywhere. But today, HP’s CEO, Mark Hurd, has resigned, after cbs5.com reports that a sexual-harassment claim was made against Hurd and the company. CBS5.com reports that the claims were made by a former HP contractor. It is also said that Hurd had “filed inaccurate expense reports.”

Hurd was able to release the following statement regarding the recent issues at HP: “[I] realized there were instances in which I did not live up to the standards and principles of trust, respect and integrity that I have espoused at HP.” He continued, “[It would be] difficult to continue as an effective leader at HP.”

Chief Financial Officer Cathie Lesjak made note that Hurd leaving HP only had to do with Hurd, and not the company, or the company’s finances. “We thought it was important for people to appreciate that the announcement today has nothing to do with the operational performance of the company, it is all about Mark’s behavior and judgment.” Currently, no other information is available. The full details can be seen at CBS5.com

Kinect for Xbox 360 is set to be released in November 2010 along with a list of 15 fun games designed specifically for the Kinect. They will include games from all different genres including racing, adventure, and even fitness which apparently suits people of all ages.

In this article we’ll take a peek at a few of these new games so you’ll know what to expect when the Kinect is finally released.

Kinect Star Wars

Kinect: Star Wars could possibly be the best out of all the initial releases. In a demo video released about this Star Wars game, a player in shown from a third-person view fighting wave after wave of enemies using a lightsaber and the Force as his main weapons. The player isn’t actually holding anything yet his movements are synchronized quite perfectly with the screen, where a lightsaber is flying back and forth. The accurate movements and gameplay shows what’s in store for the future of gaming. Although details are still very sketchy, it’s good to know that there is at least one game for hardcore gamers to get excited about.

Dance Central

Another heavily-anticipated game is the Dance Central. This Kinect motion sensor will track your entire body while dancing, and this kind of superb technology allows for many gameplay possibilities. In this game the sensor will mostly be used for judging each of your dance moves and there will also be gameplay types that teach you how to dance. It will include an awesome soundtrack with tons of modern music also. Dance Central will be one of those games that everyone has to try.

Kinect Joy Ride

Kinect wouldn’t be complete without its own unique racing game, would it? Introducing Kinect Joy Ride. A racing game which you interact with by using your hands to control an imaginary steering wheel. Rotating your hands and arms left or right, or twisting your body to either side will have the effect of turning your vehicle the respective direction. This really makes you feel like you are inside of car when playing the game, which is probably the best part of Joy Ride. This is the game that may change the way that racing games are played in future.

Here’s a complete list of Kinect games which you can preorder them and be the first to experience the magic when it’s released this Autumn.

We recently reported on how to Remove or Change Google Background Wallpaper Image. An hour later, we have learned where the background artwork is coming in from. According to PCMag.com, Jeff Koons, Dale Chihuly, Tom Otterness, Polly Apfelbaum, Kengo Kuma (隈研吾), Kwon, Ki-soo (권기수), and Tord Boontje, have all contributed to work on Google.com’s homepage.

Jeff Koons is probably best known for his balloon art, where he will take small objects, such as a dog-shaped balloons or hearts, and make them gigantic and colorful.

Needless to say, in a recent poll you’ve taken, you’ve shown that you really can’t stand Google’s new background images. Feel free to take that poll, now.

Regardless, all publicity is definitely good publicity, and Jeff Koon’s art is definitely fun to look at. You can check out Jeff Koon’s official website over at JeffKoons.com.

If you haven’t already noticed, Google has added a new feature to their main page: a background wallpaper image. As many individuals do enjoy the feature, some people would like to remove the background altogether, while others would like to change the image to something pertaining more to their interests.

If you would like to remove or change your Google.com background, look in the bottom left hand corner of Google.com. Here, you will see a button of text that says “Change Background Image.” From there, you can upload a blank white image, to make things plain. Alternatively, you can upload a fun background that you’re interested in.

This is Google’s second major change this year. Earlier this year, Google featured a sidebar, much like Bings, on the left side of their search results. To learn how to turn off the sidebar, simply search Google for, turn off Google sidebar.

What do you guys think of the new Google background wallpaper image, feature? Do you guys like it, or hate it? Be sure to take the poll and leave your comments below.
